Time management is challenging for us university students who have to deal with different priorities in life such as academic studies, some side work, and family. Time plays an important role for students because the ability to prioritize is the key to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Here are some efficient tips for time management:
- Set your goals:
First thing first, set your sights on where you want to be and what you hope to accomplish by establishing specific, measurable, and realistic goals.
- Find out your ideal study time and space:
The environment around us affects our brain effectively. You should determine the best time and situation for you to study and work well. Whether studying at home with music as a background or quietly in the library or studying at night or early morning, knowing your study preference will make you an efficient and active student.
- Be realistic about the time to study:
Some students may think that if they study the whole day, it will be good. No that is not good and it affects your health. Academic work sure takes a lot of time to do – researching, taking notes, writing reports, and doing assignments, but try not to be a perfectionist. Be realistic about the time you spend on each task.
- Give up any distractions:
Commitment to work makes it ideal. It doesn’t matter if you give less time to study but it does matter that the whole time slot must be fully dedicated to studying. In that time, overlook the mobile phone, social media, etc., and stay focus only on notes. I know it’s tough but it will reward you a lot :p
- To-do list and analyze yourself:
One of the most important things is to keep track of your work. Make a to-do list of any pending assignment, quiz, etc., and cross after fulfilling each work, that surely is satisfying. After preparing for an exam, ask yourself questions about the topic to understand the topic. Review your notes before classes to refresh your memory of the topics previously discussed.
- Ask help:
Lastly, Let family members know your study schedule, and don’t hesitate to seek help. If family members understand and support your academic goals, tackling university life will be easier for you.
As a student, I, too require some motivation and tips to study hopefully you will find yours too as terminal exams are just around the corner. Best of luck with preparing!!!
