I would like to add a particular quote as the opening of this blog
“Humans are not machines – we are something more. We have feelings and experience. Material comforts are not sufficient to satisfy us. We need something deeper – human affection.” (Dalai Lama XIV)
Let’s talk about our so-called “Modern Age” in which every non-beneficial thing is beneficial for human beings. Smoking has become a cool trend, casinos are everywhere for gambling and drinking wine and of course one doesn’t feel ashamed or guilty when he murders/kidnaps someone because it is so common these days. The only thing which is the worst of all is that we don’t even say/consider these things wrong although they are.
Out of two reasons why human beings work like a machine, the first reason is the above-mentioned cases. It’s obvious that if you want to earn these so-called perks, you need to have money. Just for the sake of this non-beneficial stuff, people have forgotten everything. They work 9-5 just for the sake of money. If we talk about the present age, money has become more important than relationships. People betray other people and even their close ones for the sake of money which is nothing but just a piece of paper. But for some people money is everything as it is the key to their enjoyment, they would do anything for money. Let’s just say that money is directly related to enjoyment, if we have money only then we can enjoy and if not then obviously people will call us poor, boring, etc. People fear being called “boring”, so in this race of “Who is the coolest one?” they want to conquer the first position. I mean just imagine that a person would end his comfort just to earn money and why does he need money? To become “Cool”, how surprising yet sad.
Anyways this is one reason, there are other reasons too but I wanted to discuss the most common ones so here I am going to present the second reason and that is the human beings have forgotten the purpose of their lives. We came into this world with a specific purpose and we don’t know what that purpose is, but here’s one secret: we have to find that purpose by ourselves. No one is going to come to us and say “Oh! You don’t know the purpose of your life? Wait let me tell you your purpose.”
In search of their life purpose, people get misguided and then they take the wrong path. This wrong path leads them towards destruction and eventually, they get used to that living style. Little do we know is that if one finds his purpose in life then he never gets misguided or gets indulges in any inappropriate thing.
People work day and night just to earn money and in this race, they leave behind the most important asset of their lives which is their relationships. If we talk generally, the most important thing in anyone’s life is their relationships. Without these relationships, we are nothing. I mean what’s the point of accomplishing something if you don’t have anyone to share your accomplishment with? What’s the point of achieving something if you don’t have anyone to show your achievements to? What’s even the point of living if you don’t have anyone with whom you can share your sadness or even happiness? People do run after money, but once they have earned everything they realize that they don’t have someone by their side with whom they can share their success with. That is the actual breakpoint, all the realizations just come to mind and burst the bubble of our imaginations. We feel alone and helpless at that very point but as said: “It is useless to cry over spilled milk.”
We humans don’t have to work day and night, ignore our precious relationships, and hurt our closed ones and what not just for the sake of money.
Life would become so much easier if we understand this reality:
“Money can surely buy everything but it certainly cannot buy happiness.”
