March 23 is not just any date on the calendar, but it was a major turning point in the history of the subcontinent, especially for Muslims. This day has the same significance as  August 14 or any other day in the history of  Pakistan.

Pakistan did not win overnight, it was the result of the massive struggles that took place on Independence Day. But the first step in this process was launched on this day. On this very day, the Muslims of the subcontinent under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam decided that the only solution to their enormous problems was a separate nation. The nation where we can breathe freely, where we can practice our religion Islam without obstacles and where we can live in peace and harmony. Quaid-e-Azam made it clear to the British and the Hindus  that he would not accept any constitutional plan other than the established criteria. Muslims made this momentous decision at a large rally in Lahore. Minar-e-Pakistan was built in memory of this resolution.

How We Celebrate It ?

23rd March is declared as a public holiday every year. The day is celebrated with the morning military parade. The Pakistan Armed Forces staged a breathtaking parade in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad. These parades are presided over by the President of  Pakistan and afterwards by him presents national awards and medals to the winners. Pakistan Armed Forces also perform aerobatics on March 23rd . The sky is filled with mesmerizing colors as they emit colorful smoke trails during an air show.

The national flag flies over all  government buildings and departments. Several places such as train stations and the provincial assembly are decorated with lights and colorful decorations to celebrate the national holiday.

The parade reflects great enthusiasm and increases our spirit of patriotism. It reflects the determination of the nation  and sends us the message of unity and cohesion. Thousands of soldiers marching in coordinated steps send a message of discipline, unity and pride. All this makes us understand that we must always appreciate the sacrifice of our ancestors.

What It Demands From Us ?

Pakistan Day is not the only day to brighten our history. On this day we should ask ourselves how close we are to the vision, the vision that has been built by our Quaid. We need to identify our shortcomings and work on them. We have made huge progress in our little history, but we need to do more and a lot of work  to do. We must not waste time criticizing others, we must work on what is important. There are a few tips that everyone can play their part on.

  • First of all, we should stop complaining about our country and  do our part. We must first  change ourselves to change Pakistan and make it a prosperous country.
  • Second, we must fight corruption. We must not only discourage this act, but also take action against it. It queues for a  few hours rather than bribing someone to do your job in  minutes for the sake of Pakistan. We must discourage such actions and always say NO to corruption.
  • We must support the education of children. Education is the key factor in the development of any country. Many children are deprived of basic education due to poverty. We can help them with small donations and through support programs. Our 100 rupees can save someone’s future from darkness.
  • We need to promote local products made in Pakistan. Our small national businesses are under immense pressure. This will help  local business  grow and can save  small businesses.

It is not always easy to do the right deeds. People always choose corruption. But the results of these small acts will change Pakistan’s society and outlook.  On this Pakistan Day (March 23), I say, trust yourself and be the catalyst for change. This is the only way to strengthen our country. Authentic work and freedom of expression are the pillars on which society can develop. We should honestly spend our time and energy in positive directions. Let us build an honorable and just society and Pakistan.
