The Covid-19 became a global pandemic and a threatening news on the media throughout the globe. The pandemic has created its terror all over the world, even though when it was not found in Pakistan. While some have responded appropriately in a balanced manner, others are exhibiting an exaggerated response to the pandemic. The footages of people dying and suffering were all over the news channels in Pakistan. This was so devastating that I stopped watching the TV. The fright was so huge that it was affecting everyone emotionally and mentally. People started using their own knowledge and shared many remedies to cure the virus. However, the virus was a new disease even the health professional workers didn’t know the proper way to cure it. In order to create awareness people started to share fake news on platforms like what’s app, Facebook and twitter. Many people starting believing and following those remedies this did more harm than good.
This hype provoked anxiety and mental health issues in youngsters also. In this situation of frustration in which people can’t go out to carry out their normal daily activities. Youngsters lost their attention span so their work from home was not productive. Students couldn’t learn from online classes and they couldn’t adjust in this new way of life. Business markets and restaurants were completely closed, people had a great loss to suffer from. Furthermore, those who lost their loved ones during this pandemic experienced grief. The media industries would share any news which gave them ratings. The news such as:
“The virus may just become another endemic virus in our communities and this virus may never go away”
These types of headlines in New papers were a threat to our mental peace. No one can predict what happens in the future. We have to be strong enough to deal with every situation life throws us into.
Furthermore, people who had seasonal flu or cough believed that they are infected by this virus. It creates a panic situation for not only the person himself but also for all the family members living with them. We as responsible citizens of our country it is our duty to take care of ourselves and also others around us. One should look for the symptoms of corona virus but should handle the situation as a mentally strong person. If you are experiencing any symptoms, get tested on time to prevent and cure the disease.
Conclusion
In my opinion the right way of dealing with the pandemic is to stay positive mentally. Only a person with strong nerves can go through this situation and can maintain his mental peace. The virus is no doubt a deadly disease but you can prevent it by following the right ways mentioned by the health professionals. Secondly, one should avoid sharing news if you are not sure about it. The people who are already suffering from the disease can even die by taking wrong medication. We should support and motivate each other in this difficult time.
