Mental health is as important as physical health. To be called healthy, mental wellness plays a vital role. The people who are having mental issues are only eligible for taking therapies. We mostly feel hesitate while talking about mental disorders. Our Mental Health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It effects how we think, feel and act. Mental state of a person determines how we handle stress, socialize, and make choices about our life. Mental health of a person is very important at every stage of life, from childhood to adolescence and adulthood…

Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, you’re thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry, life experiences, such as trauma or abuse and family history of mental health problems.

Many people don’t know whether they are or someone they know is facing mental health problems. There are feelings or behaviors that can be and early warning sign of a problem. Some of them are eating or sleeping too much or too little, pulling yourself away from people and usual activities, having low or no energy, feeling numb or like nothing matters, feeling helpless or hopeless. Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried, or scared. Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships. Hearing voices or believing things that are not true. Thinking of harming yourself, and many other.

Two of the most common mental health conditions are: Anxiety Disorders– More than 18% of adults each year struggle with some type of anxiety disorder, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (panic attacks), generalized anxiety disorder and specific phobias.

The second one is Mood Disorders– Such as depression and bipolar depression, affect nearly 10% of adults each year and are characterized by difficulties in regulating one’s mood. Mental health disorders are not just limited to these but have a versatile list of disorders. We ignore many of these disorders which in future leads to severe mental conditions.

Dealing with mental health can be difficult sometimes but is important to do so. If we do not address these issues, they can get severe by time. Sharing your mental problems can save you from a lot of damage. Here are a few powerful things you can do to help:

  • Showing individuals respect and acceptance removesa significant barrier to successfully coping with their illness. Having people see you as an induvial and not as your illness can make the biggest difference for someone who is struggling with their mental health.
  • Advocating within our circles of influence helps ensure these individuals have the same rights and opportunities as other members of your church, school, and community.
  • Learning more about mental health allows us to provide helpful support to those affected in our families and communities.
  • Visiting a psychologist can help a lot.

Why positive mental health is important? There is a famous saying “THINK POSITIVE BE POSITIVE”, so a positive mental health is very important to live a healthy life. When we are positive everything around us seems to have that positive energy. A positive mind will allow people to: realize their full potential, cope with the stresses of life, work productivity and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Now, how can we maintain positive mental health? Life is not all the time same. It is full of ups and downs. These situations have a powerful impact on one’s mind and health. Coping up with these situations and staying positive is the only way to pass these successfully. A positive mental health can be maintained by getting professional help (if needed), connecting with others, staying positive, getting physically active, helping others, getting enough sleep, and developing coping skills.

We should try to stay happy and develop the habit of talking ourselves out, which can be very beneficial at some point. Thinking positive and developing a positive environment around us is the key to a healthy life.  Seek guidance if needed. Spend more time with yourselves. Stay away from people who are toxic for your mental health. Instead of making fun of people or cutting them off who are not in good mental condition, try to help them and give them space.

BE HAPPY LIVE HAPPY!
