We are living in a world that is growing every day. A world which is revolutionizing day-by-day. Where technology has become such a vital part of every being that sarcastically, nothing is possible if we forget our phones at home. A world where work no longer necessarily means a designated desk for specific hours and signing in the office at a time. The world has grown to an extent where everything is possible with technology and on the same page, nothing is possible without it. Technology has also introduced many of us to this new term called “freelance”. What does freelance mean? Freelance has setup a doorway for many people in search of a job where they can show their abilities. It is a platform with jobs that the world outside technology lacks, with jobs that meet the people’s capabilities. In simpler words, freelancing has made it possible for us to work and earn at home, to have freedom of choice in the selection of work, and to have no boss but be self-employed and be our boss.
Freelance has now become an industry in itself, whereas initially, it was just a source of pocket money for young students. It is now a profession, in fact, a proud profession for people who found their dream jobs right on their comfy sofas. Freelancing allows us to utilize our leisure time and not only earn from it but also improve our skills from it. Freelancing doesn’t require a degree from us rather it is hungry for talent. It is also better in a way that we get paid for how much work we do, unlike normal office work where we get paid the same regardless of the uneven count of work each month. For freelancing, all we need is a laptop/phone, a good internet connection, and a well-created freelance profile.
Normally people are well aware of the benefits of freelancing but the main question which arises in their minds is how to become a freelancer? Trust me! It’s not a big deal.
A freelancer can either be a web developer, a content writer, a voiceover artist, a photographer, a game developer, an IT consultant, an HR consultant, a graphic designer, a singer, a career coach, or anything. Whatever you feel like you can easily do, just state it and you find hundreds of jobs for it. All you need is a platform: many websites offer freelance work, where you just name it and get it! I am listing down a few of them for all of you:
Upwork: www.upwork.com
Fiverr: www.fiverr.com
Freelancer: www.freelancer.com
Guru: www.guru.com
These websites offer you all an easy sign-up to your freelance profiles. The most important stages in your freelance career are the initial ones. You get little work in the start, but the quality of work defines your professionalism. People will rate the quality of your work and decide whether they suggest you as a worker to others or not. It works like online shopping, you buy a product, review it for others and suggest them whether to buy it or not. What I mean is, we must focus on building our profile in the start. When you become a skilled freelancer with a perfect profile the amount of work you start getting becomes difficult for you to manage, so you offer the same work to other freelancers and the cycle just goes on. A friendly advice from me to all the future freelancers is to beware of scams, the freelance world may have many of those eating up all your work without even thanking you for them. As I already said, the initial stages are the most important ones! Best of luck!
